BIDA Presidents Trophy Presentation

The BIDA President’s Trophy Cricket Tournament final was played August 3, 2014 between Blackburn and Merseyside divisions.

Blackburn division hosted the match.  It  was an exciting game that was cheered on by the many supporters from both sides in the presence of the BIDA President, Chairman and some EC members!

Blackburn won the toss and chose the field.

Merseyside batsmen struggled by some hostile bowling on a difficult pitch. They lost four early wickets but their captain,Tushar Mahambaray, with his brilliant  batting made 50 runs, Thiru 33 and Punkaj Lal 20.

Merseyside were all out for 168 on the 30th over.

Pick of the bowlers for the Blackburn division was Sankesh Waghray who took 4 for 25!

In reply, Blackburn scored 94 all out in the 20th over. Highlights of the Blackburn innings was a flurry of runs by their captain Sankesh Waghray.

Merseyside won by 74 runs.

The BIDA National Sports Co-ordinator, Raghu Hegde thanked the Blackburn division for hosting the final and for their hospitality.

BIDA President Dr Deepak Trivedi presented the Trophy to the Merseyside Division’s Captain, Dr Tushar Mahambrey (see main photograph). The President stated that watching the  Circket Final is one of his favourite BIDA events! He thanked the Cricket Sub-Committee for ensuring a successful tournament and gave special thanks to the members of the Blackburn Division for hosting the final.

BIDA Chariman, Dr Sabyasachi Sarker presented the Man of the Match Trophy to Dr Tushar Mahambrey (see photo tab at top of home page) . The Chairman congratulated all the players for a good match and was encouraged to see greater numbers of young Doctors participating in the event this year. The Chairman acknowledged the influence that the Cricket Tournament has had in attracting young Doctors to the organisation and expressed his hope that these members continue to take an active part in other aspects of BIDA.
